DAVENPORT, NY – An OMNI-directional, 18-epic turns on 2.1 miles of new road course asphalt is about to open to the riding public in New York State. Roughly 2.5 hours from Manhattan, or 50 miles west of Albany, in the Catskills, located just outside of Oneonta in Davenport, NY at the still functional Mountain Top Airport, the New York Safety Track (NYST) is scheduled to open in Spring of 2013.

NYST has linked up with Team ProMotion who will be hosting Track Day Events and Race Schools when the track opens.

“Team Pro-Motion is proud to officially announce a new track opening shortly in Davenport, New York. We’ve clocked the trip from NYC to the location in about 2.5 hours from NYC, making it the closest track to the city and very easy to find. The owners chose the location because of the environment and proximity to NYC and its central location in NYS with easy access to State Rte 23. Greg Lubinitsky, NYST Track manager stated that the area is absolutely stunning, peaceful and inspired by nature, with trees and grass surrounding the course. The place is a true rider’s paradise having all the features of a top notch European racetrack combined with calm NY upstate twisting back-roads” said Mr. Bill Sink, Team Pro-Motion’s Site Operations Manager.                                                     

“The most important thing we focus on is safety. Team Pro-Motion provides a phenomenal learning and riding experience for those looking to hone their skills on the track and riding on the road.” said Greg Lubinitsky, NYST Track Manager, and a long-standing member of TPM.

Learning and developing skills stemming from years of riding, racing and schooling lap after lap, Glen Goldman, president of Team Pro-Motion Track Riding Club, has been extremely instrumental in the design and layout process to create a track from a rider’s view.

“This track will be different in its level of challenge along with holding to strict safety standards that riders deserve. As with any high-performance track, the balance between speed, safety and challenge is key to keeping interest high and for rider development.” Goldman explained.                                                                         

“Team Pro-Motion will not only utilize the New York Safety Track for track events, but through the ART school program, we will bring new riders into the sport with proper training and guidance to establish an advanced skill set when riding on the street. Simultaneously, we have worked and continue to work very closely with training military personnel, and have been awarded the Army Sportbike Safety School certification. Exclusive courses and training sessions will be offered on designated days at NYST”, Goldman concluded.

“This whole project was designed by and built by enthusiasts,” NYST Track Manager Greg Lubinitsky told Roadracingworld.com. “I was riding with Team Pro-Motion for the past 10 years. My father rode with Team Pro-Motion for the last 15 years. They [track riding enthusiasts and Team Pro-Motion members] were the group that started this entire idea of building a track that’s safe and a track that’s for the enthusiasts, for racers, for everyone to love.”                                                                                              

Lubinitsky said the 137-acre property in Davenport was purchased at the end of October 2011, construction plans and business proposals were quickly passed by the Town of Harpersfield and the New York Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC), and construction began at the beginning of June.

When finished, the track will have a 40-foot-wide, 2300-foot-long front  with run-off areas that average 90-feet and soft barriers purchased by the track placed in some areas “just in case,” said Lubinitsky.

“This track will be the ultimate destination for people in the Northeast and across the US,” said Greg Lubinitsky. “You won’t find a 2.1-mile, 18-turn, 40-foot-wide straight, amenity-filled environment anywhere else in the world. We’ve made it to be the best and we will make sure anyone who attends a day with us will never want to leave.”          

Motorcycle enthusiasts on just about every web forum for motorcycles are talking about the new track and the excitement for the new bike-only track is escalating. It appears that bikers from near and far will make the journey to Davenport to ride the track.

A motorcycle enthusiast said that he was talking to a friend who’s involved with Team Promotion who consulted in the designing of the track. He’s very excited, said there will be some serious elevation changes and promised it will blow NJMP Thunderbolt away. I spoke to Glen at length about the track and he said that there will be nothing in the world like this track. He said that he is super excited about this track. The elevations will not only be in the corners it’ll be on the front straight as well. So just imagine a longer front straight than Thunderbolt at NJMP with elevation changes! It’s going to be wild.
